Adjusting the steering on the CRX?
Car doesn't have power steering but still feels pretty loose IMO. The car is a 88 with 150k miles so maybe it needs to be tightened up somewhere? I know for the Integras you can do this so I was wondering if you can for the CRX.
I think he may mean tie rods. Once the tie rods become to old and loose, that is also when your steering feels loose like what you are talking about. Hope that helps.

Check ALL of your susp components before you "adjust" your steering rack. Unless a rack is worn you shouldnt have to do any adjusting. Upper and lower ball joints tend to be problematic with the 4th gen civs.

Intergas and Civics are kissing cousins, so most tricks should work accross the board.
Check your SERVICE manual for particluar adjustment procedures.
88 with 150k could need allot of stuff. Then again not. Check for loose tie rods/ ball joints, etc and such and then do an alignment on the car.

Maybe I was unclear with my post. If you are doing any adjusting on any rack its worn and should be replaced. Susp components-ball joints and tie rods should be looked at first. Sorry about the confusion.
Ok there are two kinds of loose here.... so you should really be more specific. If you are stopped and turn the wheel back and forth is there play before the wheels actually move? Or are you refering to the phenomenon that occurs when you are driving and you turn into a cornere and the car's steering doesn't respond the way you want it to? If it is the first scenario, then check your outer tie rod ends (no power tools necessary, but you will need a ball joint separator or pickle fork.) There are inner tie rods and also the steering knuckle which don't wear like the outers, so start w/ the outers. If it is the second scenario, then an alignment may be in order. Ask for a printout so you can see the camber and caster figures etc.. One more thing, if there is a loose part in the susp. then steering variation can occur and feel loose, so double check all the nuts and bolts in the area.
When the car is at a stop, it feels stiff.
The steering just doesn't feel as stiff as it should it seems. Compared to my previous CRX, 90 DX, it is a lot looser at slow speeds but comparable when at a stop. Not as loose as a car with P/S but it feels like it should be stiffer. Probably just worn I guess.
