SOCAL PEEPS....SMOG HELP!!!!
Hey guys, if you're from socal, can you please tell me about your smogging experiences and specifically which shops are more receptive to modded cars. I just came back from 4 shops that rejected me after I told them the car was modded. The first place told me some BS about how CARB E.O.#'s don't even matter now, and that as long as the modification was there, they couldn't smog the car, but I'm pretty sure they're just messing with me. On the other hand, has anyone heard of this new law being passed here in CA, the shop told me it went into effect 4 months ago. All the other shops just told me their policy is to not smog modified cars, and I was like wth!!!! Isn't this some sort of discrimination??? Anywayz, peeps in cali, gimme some feedback if you can, I'm driving around with my stock header and bypass valve zip tied, car is not running too well. Thanks.

had a problem also..
well I got the papers from DMV and I failed to notice that the papers didnt specify that it was mandatory to get a smog check.. so basically I didnt need one cause the car is 2 years old.. but I thought I needed one, get it? ahh anyhow.. i went to a korean shop and he asked me do you have any mickey mouse's... I assumed mods. he asked to pop the hood.. so I did and all I have is a ******* K&N intake.. he told me it was illegal so I said whatever and took off.. but I talked to one of my friends and he directed me to this place in LBC.. that guy was coo... he looked at the dmv papers and he toldme that I didnt need one.. he does smogs with mods

Thanks for the reply, do you by chance remember what the name of the shop was or the location of the shop that your friend directed you to? Thanks.

I'm interested to know some of these mod-friendly locations as well. Anyone that know, please let us know. Or if you don't want to post up the place on here, email me at jainikke@yahoo.com . Thanks.
