Hows it going everyone? I just need some advice from you all if you dont mind. My registration is almost due for my 99 integsr and i have so show proof of insurance and a smog certificate showing that i pass for smog of course. I went to this auto repair place my friend referred me to and theyre chargin me $610 total to repair my car. This includes a new catalytic converter (oem brand for $375), diagnostic ($60), Smog check including certificate ($60), and the rest for labor ($115). Does this sound normal to anyone? This is actually the first time i had smog and repair my car. I know my car is obd2 but arent there any other cat conv for cheaper that will help my car pass? Please let me know...Thanks!

Assuming the exhaust is like a civic...and it shouldnt differ too much.

The pipes are held together with bots with spings on em etc.

You can prolly change that cat yourself for allot cheaper.

The bolts will be rusted to ****, so you'll have to cut them in 1/2 with a grinder.

All in all, job shouldnt take more than 1 hour.

As for the cat.....I'd try and find a used one....would be cheaper. (mind you you dont knwo its shape)

Cats are notoriously expensive since they use expensive metals as catalists...but 375 is something like 500$ CAD...sounds expensive

i would get a pretest done first...why do you need a new cat? i had a 98 and i passed with flying colors. Unless you dont have a cat? your getting ripped man...if you cant do your own work go somewhere else.

Why not buy a high flow cat? A LOT cheaper, better performance, and will pass the smog tests.
