Default 94-95 ex sudden oil loss

94-95 ex auto. This car is my mothers as she was pulling out of the driveway she noticed a large trail of oil on the ground. Turned off the car and pushed it back into the garage. I just got out of work about an hr ago so its too late to take a look right now. It looks like its leaking right in front of the oil pan. there looks like some oil hit the bottom of the hood. Any ideas on what this is. day off tomorrow and I have to look forward to this lol

common problem, balancer shaft seal backs out, dropping all the oil. There was a dealer recall for this.

I would recommend contacting your dealer for recall info, also if you register at honda.com you type in your VIN and some other info and it gives you recall info via email or mail, also scheduled maintanence and coupons, plus its free

considering that there is most likely oil all over the timing and balancer belt, and since you have to go past them to get to the balancer shaft seal, you should do the timing belt, balancer belt and the water pump at the same time.

Unfortunately the recall is no longer active. You can buy the parts and do it yourself or have it done at a dealer. I work for a Honda dealer and that is how I know it is no longer in effect.

It depends totally on where she bought it and what agreements they made with her. Generally a car that is bought "as is" does not have any warranty on it. If it was bought from a dealer ... check with them as to what they will and will not cover. In our dealership we cover ANYTHING that happens to the car in the first 30 days ... but each place that sells a car covers it differently. If it was bought from a private owner ... you are probably out of luck.
