If I was doing a major buildup I'd probably go with the z6 head. The head flows better. It has less compression, but the extra airflow makes up for it. Espescially if you are really building the motor.

alright you should try searching first this has been covered a million times but the z6 head flows better than the y8 unless you port and polish but the y8 head needs special attention because of the air flow in the intake ports so have that corrected and you will be in buisness, there is alot more search and you will find all of the info you need

I'm not sure, but a ported Z6 should flow better than the ported Y8.

I really don't think there is much difference between a Y8 and Z6 head. If you have a Z6 bottom end, just use the Z6 head. I know one flaw of a Y8 factory head, is for each cylinder one of the valve seats sticks up into the port. Leaves a nice sharp edge to trip the airflow up on the way into the chamber. I have checked Y8 heads, from a '96 on up to a '00 car and found the same thing. Never have looked at a Z6 head to compare that to.

Huh!?!
Z6 port designs are better than the Y8s
But the Y8 combustion chamber is better than the Z6.

I personally would take the Y8. ports can be (are being redesigned) chambers are more work.

Yeah, I almost forgot about how much larger the Z6 combustion chamber is than the Y8. I need to finish my cup of coffee! And then get another one!
