motor question...burnt main bearing..??

Default motor question...burnt main bearing..??

i was going to pick up a 99 gsr block for 200
with a burnt main bearing...i am going to get it resleeved
with new rods and pitons but what does it mean that the
main bearing is burnt and is it fixed easy???

A few things to check (kind of extreme, but always possibilities).... make sure the crank is ok and still good, make sure the main caps are not warped or a cylinder has sunk in result of it (even if resleeving, the deck might be warped but that's pretty extreme, but I've seen it happen), make sure the girdle holding the caps together is ok. Just a few things to look into, but mostly check the crank where it was on that specific main cap.

make sure that the crank isnt out of round, or tappered, if not you can replace the bearing and youre good to go, you might want to use a plastigage, thats an easy way to tell.

I doubt the crank is good anymore....if you're lucky, a crank grind will save you.

You may also need to line hone the mains of the block also
