Default New Car Auto to Manual

I was thinking of getting a 1994 Civic hatch CX for 2,000. It has just under 100,000 miles. Body is in excellent condition. I was thinking it is a steal but there is one problem. Its automatic. I did search but most of the questions were about the ECU or what not. My question is about how much for an auto to manual swap? If i swap in a GSR motor later, but I did the tranny swap before, is it any different then doing a normal manual swap? Is it worth it to do it or should i keep looking? Any input is appreciated, good or bad.

i did one on my car (93 Civic EX), bayside transmission quoted me $555 for labor and i just provided most of the parts, which i picked up for pretty cheap.

Do it your self ... If you acomplished a tranny swap . An Auto to M/t will be CAKE ..
I did one on a 93 DX hatch , I used 97 HX pedels / throttle cable / shift linkage / shifter / clutch slave / master cyl. and fluid reservoir . The clutch oil line came from a local parts store ( the universal tube and bent it with my hands )
Only problem your going to run into is , the upper tranny mount . It bends up so you will have to re-weld an M/t mount onto the frame , custom make one ( i did ) or buy a custom mount made by place racing .

The whole process took me about 4 hours by my self . Oh and no one told me about the key locking in the ignition because of the auto lock . I searched all over the web and found nothing about it ... the next day i realized a blue box i moved aside when i put the master cyl. in . Just unplug that box and your good to go .

funk that i agree with Usdm 1, DO IT YOURSELF!!! i relied on this thread so much when i did the conversion https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=510597. thanks a bunch to "youngkow." imo, i think it would be easier just to buy the auto to manual conversion mount via place racing or jdmshit (which is what i used) piece together all the necessary parts mentioned above and go at it. i would also recommend if you are planning to swap, just do it in all one shot. there, you won't have to worry about the tranny ie: dropping the tranny; install clutch, pp, fly, etc; and re-assembleling everything...too much of a hassle to me. i did it all at the same time, take out motor...switched it to a stick...drop in the gsr...tada, you're done. also by taking out the motor, you have so much more room to run the hard lines. btw, the pedal assembly will be a PITA!!!! hth if you have any Q's, feel free to ask

I agree with the do it yourselfers. I did the swap, in my 94 4 door lx. It wasnt hard at all. JUst amke sure you have all the right things....

- mastercylinder
- New pedals (clutch, brake)
- clutch line ( standard brake line tube)
- (obivously) linkage. tranny. that stuff. Plus I am inm NJ if you need a hand

Yes.

To use the OEM manual tranny mount, you have to drill out the spot welds on the auto mount to remove it from the car, then have someone weld the manual tranny mount in its place.

Read here.

did you use this mount?:

EG-AT Transmission Mount (For Auto Chassis)
Fits 92-95 Civic, 94-01 Integra, 93-97 Del Sol

do you remember how much you ended up spending on the trans/trans swap parts/mount, etc?

If i'm not mistaken , that mount is just a stiffer automatic mount . It's not to complete the auto to m/t swap . ( i could be wrong )
The one that is needed , ive searched and only came up with place racing . It's red and it has a long shaft about 3" up from the trans . ( they were back ordered when i called )
I made mines from a automatic stock mount and a m/t mount . I just used the plate from the m/t mount that bolts to the trans and welded 2 long bolts to it . Then I used the Auto mount and bolted it to the custom m/t mount with some spacers .
or you could order the m/t frame mount from hasport , which is like 60$ .

Does the swap look alright? I'm planning on doing one once I decide on and save for a new engine for my 6th gen, and I really want it to be nice and clean. I'm pretty good with building, I taught myself how to build computers and have been working on my car some, so would it be feasible for me to do the work with a newb friend?

it cost me around $1,500-1,800 in parts and labor, that included the tranny, ACT clutch, slave and master cylinder, clutch fluid lines, pedal assemble, 3 mounts, the auto to 5 speed placeracing spceial mount, starter, ECU, shift linkage (harder to find for a sol), B&M shifter, center consol (to recude th LOUD LOUD noise) Flywheel, the flywheel bolts (from honda). To me it was worth it cuz i like it but ion all accuality i should have just sold mine and bought another with a 5 speed already in it. But good luck with it.

If your doing a 96+ then the mount will not have to be altered . Its a swap and go process for the Ek's .
The swap can look stock if you use stock parts . So , clean wise would be totaly how you make it .

It is a mount that extends the bracket so you dont have to do any welding, works great too. I got mine from placeracing though. It the red mount case you for somereason cant see it.
