Default Security, keyless entry, remote start. What do you guys have installed?

Well, I think its time to look around for something reliable. I was wondering if they sell alarms along with keyless entry and remote starts as one package?

What do you guys have installed in your preludes?

Thanks in advance!

I have an alpine 150R Alarm/keyless entry. You can get a remote start for it but i decided against it because if you ever leave it in gear your car is gonna try and start over and over again until you shut it off. The alarm is alright. My friend has hmm what is it i cant think of it right now but its from bestbuy its got the lcd pager remote. its really nice tells you what part of the car is being broken into and comes with all the accesories. a bit pricy thou.

i have a cheap bulldog keyless entry plus alarm. i'm using the horn for the alarm with a relay and it has some connections for extra stuff like remote start, etc.

I am only looking for a remote keyless entry system. I am not sure whether or not I need the alarm - I suppose an RKE with a horn output and a panic function should be able to run sound through the horn once broken into, no?

I agree regarding the remote start. I think it's an unnecessary luxury, does not add much security, but definitely adds in system complexity.

i have a compustar SS remote starter, pager, alarm, keyless...etc...

as far as it starting while in gear, on the compustar units, it has a specific "shutdown" precedure where the car remains running in neutral, shuts off when the door closes, and won't let u remote start it unless you did the "shutdown" procedure.

I just got the clifford Matrix RS 2.5X (I work at Best Buy) it is the one 92lude was speaking of, it is a bit pricey (379.99) but with my discount I got it for 149.95 so I'm not complaining!!

I'm getting a battery backup, hood pin, and remote start (I think I want it because I am going to have a turbo and I will need to let my car run for 3 to 4 minutes before I drive it)

How much does a setup like that run?
That's exactly what I'm looking for.

yeah that's the one i have...the SS has a longer range than the lower model one. Has a lot of features but the built in turbo timer will be nice when i eventually get a turbo..

Hah, don't get the 3.5. it doesn't have support for manual transmissions, jesus christ. I'm gonna order a manual transmission remote start off ebay and get it installed somewhere else.

Dude, you work at best buy and talk up your alarm and blah blah. Why don't you just wire in the remote start, use the status output wire to control a relay which bypasses the clutch switch? That's what I did. And since you said you're getting a turbo anyhow, you might as well get use to parking in neutral now, since you'll be doing so when you have a turbo timer. And by using the status output, it will only bypass the clutch switch when I remote start the car, so that way if some person gets in my car and is screwing around and turns the key for some unknown reason without pushing the clutch the car won't start.

For which one? The basic keyless/remote start, or the 790XV (pager, alarm, keyless, remote start...)

The DEI Valet 551R I have in is similiar to the newer DEI Rattler369D, except the 369D has a couple more features and has the remote start relays onboard (meaning it's easier to find a place under the dash to put everything). You can pick the unit up for around $69.99 to $99.99, and alot of places will do the install for you for a total of around $200 for unit and install.

It's a DIY unit, and Honda's are really that hard to do (if you're looking to do a Honda). I'd be more than willing to help with any questions you'd come up with if you were planning on doing one and putting it in yourself. As a side note, DEI has damn near the worlds best tech support.

Yep, just installed the Honda's OEM keyless entry for a Civic. Works great. Although it is listed as a "convenience" feature, I personally consider it a "safety" one.
Cheers!

I install Micro keyless entry systems part-time when not at my job on swing shift. I've been using them for about 5 years and currently do work for a few car dealers in town, the general public, and for other co-workers. 2 out of 10 have come back, only because they lost a remote, or screwed them up somehow. I'll sell you one of my keylesses, a complete alarm, a remote start/keyless entry, or a remote start/keyless/alarm for a few dollars over my cost. They are pretty easy to install. I can do one on most Honda's in about 15 minutes. IM me and I'll give you some prices.

I have a "steelmate" alarm (kind of an unfortunate name really).
It's quite cheap and is made in China but I've had it a year or so with no problems. It has a remote start and also a microwave sensor option and comes with two remote pager units which I have found to work for about 500m
