Default 90accord lx, idle goes up and down when cold only in drive4

When my car is warming up and I am driving it all gears shift fine, but when it gets into 4th gear the car acts like its going into overdrive where it will kick up 500 rpm's but not downshifting and it will instead go down 500 rpm's and stay there for 1-3 seconds and then go up to normal. Ever since I have had the car even when its warming up it hasn't done it but only when driving it will kick up out of overdrive in drive4. Could this be a selenoid problem or any other issues I should look into? I searched and didn't find anything in regards to this. Thanks for the help.

But my car only does it when its cold and only in D4. And the idle stays it doesn't jump, it only acts like its going in/out of overdrive....I thought VAFC was mainly an idle in neutral/park issue, does it also effect driving idle (rpm's), if thats the case after the car is warmed up and also during the summer it will not do it. Any help with this would be appreciated.

check your idle control valve.
