1st gen Rex w/ Brown Top ZC, need a little help plz
I just got my 1st Gen Brown Top ZC Complete changeover, and I want to replace the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, as well as the clutch this weekend.
The problem is, I pulled the t-belt and got this part # off of it: (honda part# 14400-PG6-0040). This confuses me because, all the ZC FAQ's say I need part # 14400-PK2-004). I'm going to call honda tomorrow and see if this part# is in their system, hopefully it'll shed some light on this problem.
Hmm, so now wondering if the 1st gen (brown top) timing belt, water pump and tensioner are different from the black top, which makes all these part #'s useless to me.
Anyone replace these parts on their brown top ZC? Any help is greatly appreciated.
I'll post info tomorrow when I call honda.

you use the belt that acura calls for the 86-87 integra.....Brown Top.....should be the same as the Black Top 88-89. Either way just use what Acura says. Honda wont show anything for that motor even though it is a Honda.
brown valve cover ZC's use same parts as 86-87 Integra D16A1 - timing gears on brown top are larger than black top ZC - different belt
gears are the same between 86-89 integras, i know i own a 89 and have torn many 86-89's down............Civic ZC's have smaller gears.......
you will learn soon that the 86-89 integra parts will fit the 1g crx. you might want to go with the integra rotors, calipers and master cylinder...better brakes.
dont forget the rare brakes swap....
also the power steering is available butthats whack...
seriously go to http://www.redpepperracing.com we have a FAQ that will knock you out not too mention some very serious people who can help with anything...

Wow, you guys are awesome! So the Water pump and tensioner should also fit from the 86-87 Integra then.
I have been to redpepperracing.com, great site, but I couldnt find any part #s for the 1st gen ZC.
Well, im off to honda, I'll let you guys know how everything fits.

Yea, you should be good with anything from the 86-87 integra with the d16a1. From what I've read the engine is externally indentical to the dohc ZC. AFAIK, only the cams and pistons/rods are different between the engines. HTH

i believe that is what i said - "timing gears on brown top are larger than black top ZC" (D16A1 integra is not a ZC)
