Or installdr.com, which has lots of detailed instructions on taking the dash apart.

6.5" speakers. Pretty much if you go with any decent speaker (infinity, alpine, etc, etc with decent sized magnets) you'll have to cut the basket off of the plastic trim ring that the factory speaker mounts in to. It's just not deep enough. If you go with a TSG series Pioneer or a sony it should just drop in with no cutting needed.

yeah i was asking this because i had bought some audiobahn 6.5 speakers and cut the plastic basket to make it fit and the screw holes on the speaker overlapped... and it still didnt fit it was to big

ended up having to sell them to my friend and they didn't fit his car either so we had to ghetto rig em in

The Speakers might be oversized 6.5 intended for Gm cars and trucks

6.5 speakers are made in two sizes / your car needs normal 6.5'' ones.

The civic gets 6" not 6.5 or otherwise simply cuz the basket won't fit. You will need something shallow like the HPC2206U from Rockford or whatever you want along the same lines. If you want a bigger magnet then yes you will have to cut the basket or remove the mounting basket all together. Good luck!

i wouldn't remove it, I'd just cut it. I honestly believe every model of honda uses the same damn basket lol. Even the S2000 I put an infinity component set into had the same basket issue. My 98 Civic HX did, my 97 Prelude, etc, etc.
