Default Speaker Size

I was just wondering what is the speaker size in an 89 Civic Hatchback? I only have 2 speakers and they are the door speakers. Im just trying to replace them with something that fits right back in the stock location. thank You.

6.5" in the doors. Get shallow mount speakers or you might have problems rolling your window down.

Many audio "fit guides" call for a 5.25" but a 6.5 is the ticket, 2.5" of depth max. You may need to cut the back of the speaker bracket/rain baffle, easy task.

Stock they were 5.25" in the front. You can cut the back out of the plastic mount though and fit 6.5" speakers in there easily.

I'd stick with shallow mounts if available though to avoid problems with the windows as mentioned above.

I have JL audio's (TR650-CXi) at 2.44 mounting depth and they are 6.5", I cut the bracket out on the passenger side so speaker would fit through but it doesnt because the speaker still wont sit flush with the bracket. What size bracket should I buy so these speakers can work (depth and width). I won them at a local car show and dont want to have to buy some if these work.

88-91 Civic hatch used standard 6.5" speakers, not to be confused with oversized 6.5" speakers] in front and back, but could come with 5.25" in the rear, [even in the front] speaker housing will hold either a 5.25" or standard 6.5" speaker, [screw mounting holes for both are in the stock plastic speaker housings] as mentioned the mounting depth is 2.5" max without mods, with mods up to a 3" deep speaker will fit, mounting diameter, [hole size] is 5".

92gvr4civic91 your JL Audio TR650CXi are oversized 6.5" speakers they need a 5.56" diameter mounting hole.
Your best option is to replace the stock plastic speaker housings with custom MDF housings. 94
