It helps a lot, but not as much as a standalone afaik. Depends on what you want I guess if you want crazy fine tuning, maybe you should go hondata.. but I think vafc is fine for "mild" tuning and what not..
I know my knowledge on this subject is poor so someone please feel free to correct me

I have to agree...go with the APEXi VAFC...you can make little tweaks here and there as you upgrade with bolt on's and such and you can also control the VTEC cross over points with it.

when i put my VTEC controller in my car i noticed a difference rght away...Being able to control VTEC engagement is cool as hell and everything, but in EF's especially compared to other civics, b-series run a little funny somtimes. It may bog or start up shitty or idlle high stupid **** like that. I got my VTEC controller porfessionally installed and I got to get some dyno time and they tuned it mildly and my car ran smooth as hell. I'm eventuelly gonna get hondata when i boost so i can get more power, but for mild tuning and not to mention eye candy when peple look in your car , its a good buy. oh and can somebody tell me what the F*ck is v tech?

The vtec controller only changes the actual crossover point. Even though the crossover point has changed, the ECU is still giving the fuel map for the low cam profile, right? So, your fuel mixture may be too rich or too lean depending on whether you bumped up the x-over point or pulled it back. Hondata actually changes the fuel map and whatever else is necessary with a x-over point change, so that's why it's really the best way to go for true tunability. Hell, from what I've heard, if you haven't done much engine modification then the stock x-over point is pretty much the best setup for the engine. I'm pretty sure that's how it works. I could be very wrong though. Somebody correct me if I am.

YOU'RE WRONG! lol, j/k. the apex'i vafc is also able to alter fuel at the crossover point, whereever you decide to change it to.

Total waste of time, buy a V-AFC or get into making your own chips from http://www.pgmfi.org

Depends on what motor you're using the VTEC Controll for as well. If you are running a setup like an A6 block with a VTEC head from a later model Civic such as the Y8 or Z6, the VAFC is the way to go.. As people mentioned before the vtec crossover point is programmable but most importantly fuel, which ( also mentioned ) the Spoon controller does not alter, nor does any RPM Switch such as one from Summit Racing, etc. VTEC will engage with a RPM Switch but running lean isn't good.

Get the VAFC, playa.
