This happened to me today while i was driving on the highway and also had occured in the past... driving along normaly when all of a sudden the tach drops to 0 from being at 4/5000 or whatever it may be at and the car essentially then stalls out (was in 5th gear on the highway) with oil and battery lights coming on shortly thereafter when the car truly 'dies out'... 93 prelude vtec.. but then hours later if you try the car again it had turned on and was fixed.. brought it to a dealership and they couldnt figure it ou... and help?

 

take a peak under the hood. You might surprise yourself and find something. Check all of your grounds (tranny, valve cover, harness). make sure they're nice and snug

 

sounds like an electrical problem to me, any check engine lights?

check your alternator also

 

Sounds like your distributor is going bad.
