For all those that ask about EG/EK/DC suspension in an EF, look here.....
The left strut assembly is a front 96-00 EK strut, the one on the right is a front strut from an 88 EF (crx to be exact). Notice the difference in height?

So that answers it. If I want to RAISE my car go with a ek strut/lol Now everyone can see it for themselves though

then you could go off roading, like a truck.

hahaha, pretty much!! It will also kill your strut towers in the long run.

Yep that's right.. that's also the problem using 91-95 Koni suspension kit on a EF.. it WORKS VERY WELL if you want to go autocrossing in the dessert

Lets see them side by side with the EF strut assembled. All I see is a compressed strut... how are we suppost to compare fairly?

Not much of a difference bro, that's my old EF strut, bring a top hat and we'll assemble it and we'll take pcis then if you want to...

I actually need to raise my car, the B20 is too heavy for the stock suspension and I DONT want to lower it anymore.... The header and oil pan hit whenever there are high spots in the road. So how much would it raise it? Could I just get the stock springs for the fron (thats where I need em)

you really need to compare them both with out springs on them and with the shock rod fully extended to show a good comparison.
i know that ef rod will come out way farther i just took some off a car at work!

No jacking at all, this is more proof that the 92+ struts are taller....thanks!

no prob
not a good comparison...just for fun, shortend( READ SHORT BODY) tein vs ef stock shock
so unless you have some special short body eg/dc/da shocks like the ones below theres no point in using em.

i tried jic's made for a dc2 on my 88 crx..
you should take a pic of the front forks ...
compare the rear too...
try comparing the same kind of strut... dont compare stock struts either.. cuz there is no reason you should be putting stock eg/dc/ek struts on your car..

if it bolts in and you dont have to modify anything, it will still work. may be a little ****** rigged, but it will still work.
so u guys are all talkin bout eg susp on an ef.. how bout ef susp onto my eg.. lower is better in my case.. so would they be okay in my situation?? thanks
I have KYBs form a 5th Gen Civic in my 4th Gen Civic. I just used the "forks" from the 5th Gen and it works great. They are about 1" shorter.

yes ef suspension works great in the eg...espesicialy if you want to go low as the front shocks will give you nice travel

Humm, so using 5th gen forks would allow another inch of travel in the front on lowered cars. Reminds me of ST's drop forks from back in the day. Do they still sell those?

I have Koni sp3s on my ef right now. .lowered 2in. in the front and 1.9 in the rear, zero problems.

No they are not.
EF fork on left, EG on right.
The only way to gain travel with the EG forks is to do this:
also, its not really fair comparing 2 shocks from different cars AND different companies. I mean, My EF AGX's were about 1/2" longer than my EF yellows. So i'd imagine that there is a height difference between the stock and aftermarket from the same car.
I e-mailed koni about this shock length thing a while ago and Gordon Benson said this:
"...the biggest change with the 88-91 and the 92-00 Civic is that the lower "wishbone" (what the shocks go into on the bottom) is smaller on the 88-91 cars. This can be interchanged though the lengths and the valving between the 2 Civic applications isn't worth the work. The valving is basically identical and the lengths are less than a half inch of each other."
I wrote an article about the hybrid ef suspension and it is here: http://www.ef-honda.com/ben/EFhybridsus.html

Well all I know is when I got my KYB struts they were longer than the stock ones in my 90 Civic. The part that fit into the fork was too big to fit in the mounting hole. The guy I bought the from said they came off a 92 Civic so I bought a set of forks from a 93 DelSol( should be the same as a Civic) and they were about 1" shorter and the hole the strut fits in was larger. The "new" forks bolted right in and the struts fit just fine. Because the forks are shorter, they do sit closer to the drive axle but so far no problems with them hitting the axel.
