Default Breather

Is there any advantage to putting on a breather filter rather than sending it back to the intake piping?

No, its not recomended. First oil can built up in the breather soaking it, then it drips from the there causing a mess, second pressure builts inside the motor that needs to be released to run most efficiently. If there is a breather the pressure must be forced out. If it has the hose connected back to the intake the pressure is releived as the intake is "sucking" in the air. The argument against leaving the hose connected is that "oil vapor" is directed through the throttle body which can cause a gummy build-up in the throttle body. HTH
