Swapped D15B into 95 DX Code 20 HELP!
I just finished swapping a JDM D15B into a 95 Civic DX hatch and i'm getting a code 20 with the JDM P08 ECU. I am now guessing that that the Canadian model civic doesn't have an Electronic Load Detector but the JDM ECU requires it. Can someone tell me how to OVERCOME this stupid code so there is no engine light! THANKS H-T!!!!!!!!!
You brought up a good question. I have a 92 Civic VX and it's a Canadian model. I just checked my under hood fuse box and I don't have an ELD there. I referenced my Helms and it even says when troubleshooting Code 20 ELD "except Canadian models."
Even though the Canadian models don't use an ELD, it shouldn't make your P08 ECU throw the CEL. I have a USDM 95 P72 ECU and I've also had a USDM P28 ECU in my car and have never thrown a code 20. I would say that you have a problem in your wiring somewhere. What all wiring did you do when you did the swap? I would start there and go over that first.

The only wiring i did was the vtec wires. His CX doesn't have an ELD and the CEL doesn't come on. It does flash 20 when you jump the check engine light plug. So i'm just going to leave it. His CEL doesn't come on and the car is running fine! With my crx I converted the WHOLE vechicle harness with a Canadian 95 civic Si harness and im running a P72 with no codes, but when i had a P06 i was getting the ELD code. So I must have had a USDM P06 because it seems like no Canadian model civic's from 92-95 use a ELD. I went to the local wreckers which had about 10 civics and i checked the fuse box and none of them had a ELD........... Thanks for the info guys!
