SiR (b16a2) into '96 CX. I don't understand obd2a vs obd2b
Well i have a '00 b16 in my garage from a SiR (Canadian) and it's going into my CX hatch, which is a '96. Now seems to me my SiR ecu, which came with the complete motor swap purchase isn't the same as the plugs on my stock wiring harness. I've done swaps in EGs before with obd1 motors and i never really had encountered this because everything was plug and play. So what i want to know is, what exactly am i supposed to do now from the following options i was introduced to.
- Get a chipped 96-98 EX(usdm) SI(cnd) ecu, since my SiR(cnd) Si(usdm) one won't fit my stock '96 harness plugs.
- Get the wiring harness from behind the dash, etc. from a 99-00 USDM SI and swap it with my stock '96 cx harness. According to the person who told me that, i won't even have to do any wiring to the motor as everything will be wired up already. Seems a bit too good to be true though.
- Get some type of an adapter kit so i can plug the SiR ecu into my stock harness.
All these options were suggested to me by different people, now i need to know what actually works and won't doesn't and what really IS the best/easiest/most cost efficient thing to do. And if it's not listed please refer me to links/info where i can read up on it. Thanks.

I'm not aware that they can chip OBD2 ECU's in that manner like they can a P28.

This will not work, you can't use a 99-00 engine harness in the 96-98 chassis. The plug that clips up to the dash harness plug by the ECU will not match up. You will need to reuse your stock harness and add the necessary wiring or get a 96-98 EX harness for better plug and play.

Yes, you can get an OBD2 to OBD2B adapter harness. For performance reasons, the best setup would be an OBD2 to OBD1 adapter harness and use a chipped P28/P08 or P30 ECU.
