When I get my turbo in this is gunna be my exhaust setup:

-2.25" dowpipe from fmax w/ wastegate dump into top of dp
-stock ls cat
-ITR exhaust

I'm only gunna be running 6psi, maybe more at the track, like 9.

Do you think I'd benefit alot from upgrading some of the stuff? Like a bigger dp, highflow cat or a bigger exhaust? I know I don't need a 3" exhaust, but I'm thinking the cat might be restrictive, and the dp might be a little also.

Your DP should be atleast 2.5". Upgrading the exhaust to a 3" is really recommended.. Turbos love to flow freely. You will gain lots of high-end HP with the larger exhaust and DP.

 

Anyone else? Also, I definatly getting a Carsound cat, so I just need to decide on downpipe and exhaust.

Well, actually, I'm more concerned about the small downpipe.....

thermal makes a nice 3". your type r won't be that bad. a thermal would be better.

 

If you want to make power, go with the largest size piping you can fit under your car, preferably 3".

 

Ya, like I said before, go with mandrel bent 3" piping and atleast a 2.5" downpipe. If you have the money to [color red]BURN[/color] then buy a full 3" cat back. I would just go to a muffler shop that does mandrel bending and buy yourself a nice straight-through muffler.

Well, I dont have money to <FONT COLOR="red">burn</FONT>. If I do upgrade, what gains would I see? From a larger downpipe, or from a larger exhaust?

hell yea man , if your going fi , , let it breathe and you will love that car forever , , esp turbo . the more it can breathe the better gains youll see

 

also backpressure creates heat, heat is the last thing u want with turbo.. The bigger exhaust system the less heat therefore more safety.. It really depends how much air u r pushing to decide exhaust size, for instance single turbo supras run 4 1/2" exhaust.. But u wont need bigger then 3" probably ever..

 

JUST MAKE SURE YOU UPGRADE YOU CAT CAUSE TAKE IT FROM ME WHEN IT MELTS FROM THE EXTRA HEAT AND YOU BLOW YOUR TURBO SEAL DUE TO THAT YOU GONNA BE **** THAT YUO PUT IN A 3" PIPE BUT LEFT YOUR STOCK CAT

I NOW RUN A CUSTOM 3" CAT ALONG WIT MY 3" PIPING AND I LOVE THE SOUND FROM THE TURBO. AND QUICKER SPOOL UP ALSO
