how do I shave side moldings on a '94 Teg?
I already tried using the search. Just wondering how I can shave the side moldings off my '94 GS-R without f*cking up the surrounding body?
Thanks

i pulled the moldings out...and body shop welded all the holes, smoothed everything out by or grinding???(not sure) then painted ofcourse,
Mach 3 Turbo. leaves it smooth.

damn... all that work. I figured they were just attached with adhesive or screws or something. figured i could just fill the holes with some type of fiberglass material. how much do you think this mod costs by a body shop at like $50-$65/hour?
how about this, cut out some 1"x1" squares of sheet metal then from the inside of the panels, put them over the holes and use JB Weld to attach them. Then from the front just use some bondo to fill the 2mm space. That way the bondo is backed by something strong. Do you think this would work?

yea, I would weld to, but i'm just talkin about if someone can't afford that, and wants to DIY then this would be better than just plain old bondo.

This is kind of strayin off, but when you shave the moldings, you have to paint the door and the rear quarter panel right? Do you know roughly how much it would cost to finish off the job and respary the entire car the same color? (no door jams, engine bay, etc)

to shave the moldings and re-spray the whole car i would say 1500-2000 depending on the shop

Holy **** - $500+, frickin crazy - seems like a lot for a mod that slightly changes appearances - i think i'll take the chance and try doing it w/ my father (don't be sick) - the only thing i'm afraid of is denting the body when pulling off the molding. - how is the molding actually removed?

ive seen $50,000 paint jobs,
"mraudio13" - look at the original pic on this post to see shaved moldings on a 'teg.
and no, I don't even know how to weld, but I've seen my dad use sheet metal and some horse hair fiberglass **** to turn a completely rotted out fender into one that looks brand new, so I'm sure I could do this modification with him.
