Well we picked hella of a time to go. Where do I start?
Lets see, we take off from the US inbound to Narita/Tokyo on 9-9-01. The trip was good (actually ahead of time) until the captin informed us that we will have to circle in the air because of a typhoon is hitting Japan. Um ok, I think to myself... So we circled for like 2hrs!!!! The plane was bouncing with turbulence, tons of stuff was falling, people were getting sick, etc. We finally land and get moving towards Yokohama. First thing that I noticed of course was that EVERYONE has HID's!!!!! Yes everyone. From bus drivers, to trash trucks, to car semi-tow trucks, etc... Crazy!!!!!!
Anyway, so we get to my friends house. We call Dave (JDM_DOHC_SiR) to tell him that was in Japan. We then decide to meet up for a few min that night for a quick drink. Dave and his wife drove over to our place, which normally is like 5min away from his place, but since he didn't know the back streets especially in a typhoon it took a little bit longer. Yeah, side note Dave, those roads that you call 2 lane streets are still sidewalks IMO!!! hahahaha
You think that the game Tokyo street racer is fun, try it in real life! Its crazy what they consider streets their!
Anyway, the next day (Tues) we hung out at the house for a bit because of the typhoon. When the eye hit our area we ran to the station to get to Tokyo ASAP while it was calm. That’s when we got our first dose of the Shybua girls from 109 area, etc... Talk about interesting... hahahahaha Leg warmers (in that weather or any weather! WTF), afro haircuts, bleached hair, long nails, cowboy clothes, etc…!!!! It was like a fu@ked up 80’s show! ahahahahaha
Anyway, we just kinda toured that area and ate. Later that night we heard about what happened in the US!!! We didn't think much/believe it so we slept. The next day/morning we saw what happened! Even though we couldn't understand it, we still were in awe!!! For that moment I was trully in pain and scared. I have never been that fearful and paranoid in my life. Being a a strange country not understanding anything when the US is at war is fu@king crazy!!!!! From that point our trip was in a way hard to do, yet we had to move on and make the most of it. One other point that was crazy was how we couldn't call the US for a bit because all the lines to the US weren't working! Also hearing that we might be stuck in Japan for weeks if the flight gets cancled and if we do go to war! Up until we left I couldn't find one paper that was in english, etc... Anyway, later on Dave (lucky that we had him in Japan and with his position, safety, and knowlage) took us too tons of car places and local “junk/salvage” yards. Yeah lets see, 5+ R engines, R34 engines, etc… Tons of turbos, seats, front clips, lights, you name it! It was crazy. As for the prices, well you would have to see it to believe it. We also ate at Mc D’s. Yeah it’s true, it’s a lot better in Japan. To end the night we went to the local Super Autobac’s. OMG that place is HUGE!!!!!! Its like a super Kmart for import nuts. Walls of coilovers, walls of lights, walls of seats, brakes, exhaust, etc… We also saw Dave dyno hit monster CRX, as well as Miraz dyno his R.
The next day we went to the “electric town” in Tokyo which is like one huge city sized good guys. How does 60” flat panels for $800 bucks sound? BTW- everyone from the airports to McDonalds to 7-11 to anything have flat screens. I bought the top of the line Sony CD player for $160 bucks, compact flash cards for my camera (125mb for 80 bucks). The also had a 1gb version! $800 for it though! Yikes!!!! Whats cool is that most all the Jap. People are honest when buying stuff from them. If you ask if it will work, they seem to always tell you yes, no, maybe unlike other places who just want the sale.
Next day we went to the Spoon headquarters. Their we saw the S2000’s getting worked on as with various race engines. We also saw the President of Spoon come in and get into the elevator. After that we went to type one which is Spoons showroom and sales center. There I went kinda crazy. I kinda bought a lot. Actually 3 bags worth. Even the Spoon guy who works there said it was a lot! hahahaha I bought:
- Spoon brakes! Ahahhahaha
- Spoon radiator brackets (silver and black)
- Spoon radiator cap
- Spoon thermostat
- Spoon radiator tubes (top and bottom)
- Spoon low temp fan switch
- Spoon magnetic plugs
- Spoon lug nuts (blue)
- Greddy remote oil filter adapter (for oil pressure gauge, etc…)
- Honda JDM valve cover
I would have gotten more, but with the “war” going on I felt that I didn’t want to get more bags due to the hassle at the airports. The next day we went to Feel’s twincam. Not much to look at, so we left. We then went back to Super Autobacs in Yokohama and shopped some more. This time I got:
-Tons of lights (for friends)
-JDM looking sidemarkers (but clear)
-The NEW PIAA (clear 6000k) HID’s!!!! (they look my already advanced Italian imported HID’s look yellow). I’ll post more on this later! Hahahaahha
-Einkie blue 7-sided light wheel locks
-Championship white racing tape!
- type R sunglass holder (yeah I know ricey, but it beats my ugly sunglass hut one!)
- Plus other stuff not worth mentioning. That night we went to the famous night races and meeting areas for the racers next to the bay bridge. Yeah makes our races look lame! I’m talking about tons of RX7’s, NSX’s (turbo, supercharged, R versions, GTR’s, R’s, etc… plus lowriders, show cars, dancing, etc… It was crazy. People had huge stereo’s in their small trucks just for dancing behind the cars! It was crazy!
The next day we left for the airport and stopped at the other Tokyo Super Autobacs and bought some of the other stuff I mentioned plus a bunch of mags, videos, etc…
As for my JDM stuff it was put on hold due to what’s going on and will its be ordered and shipped soon.
Anyway this trip was fun and crazy! Who else can really say they few into a Typhoon going to Japan, had a war start with the US and other countries, etc… This trip will always be burned into my mind. Even with whats going on, we still had fun and did what we wanted to do! J
Ahahahahaha
Anyway I hope all of you have fun like I did in Japan. I will probably go back again next year when I have more money! Its true Japan will really take your money! Expect to spend around $300 on just transportation and food costs for a week. I’ll post more later when I have more energy. I slept only for 15min on the plane, which made me awake for 24hrs. Last night when I got home I slept at 10pm and woke up at 3pm! Yeah 17hrs I slept! I could have easily slept for longer! LoL

How much were they? With the conversion rate at 117.50 and the killer discount Spoon gave me (huge discounts during the week I was their. Why? It was like a company anniversary and they gave huge discounts on all spoon products for that week. Everyone said it was really rare). Plus some deals they had going on also while I was their, the brakes came to $1213.24 for brand new Spoon calipers!!!!!
Do you have any more pics of Super AutoBacs I would like to see how the building is designed abit more. I'm research for my shop which is going to take after Japanese shop type buildings. I have a friend thats in the contruction business and he was curious of how I would like my shop designed out. Either that or copy of shop down town from here..which I rather build my own instead of paying what there asking for that building.

I didn't take any pictures inside because they are really **** about doing that for some reason. Probally for the reason that you want them! hahahha I'll recheck my pictures again for you though! Maybe someone else here as some that they snuck. Also ask Dave (JDM_SIR...) to see if he can take some since he's kinda close by.

Nice trip! especially with the lowered Yen, I've been to Tokyo 2 years ago and at the time I don't even know what a Type-R is. Instead of visiting Autobac, I went to Disneyland....$300 bucks for food and transportation is cheap! I spend over $1000 in 4 days of Cancun. ^#%^#$ should've went to Okinawa instead...
BTW I liked the 109 girls, they are really cute and slutty,,

JAL has non-stop service from DFW to Tokyo-Narita. Check with the Asian travel agencies, they can get the consolidator fares. I can give you directions to the Super Autobacs in Tokyo Bay, but if you've never taken the subway, chances are you will get lost
