Default Mini review - Fujitsubo RM-01A

(No pictures yet - everyone knows how a Fujitsubo RM-01A looks like by now )

It finally came in today and got it installed. It's expensive, but it's definitely a quality piece just looking at the construction and design. It came with everything and then some. I mean, it came with bolts, springs, washers, nuts (extras too), a heat wrap to protect the e-brake cable since the 2nd resonator is close to it. I was hoping it was as quiet as mentioned and finally started the car up ...

Silence. I mean, literally it's almost as quiet as stock. Induction noise from the Icebox is actually the loudest part of the car now. When you get on it, it does have a nice mellow tone to it but I can finally hold a conversation in the car without having to yell.

I'm extremely happy with this exhaust and my aging ears appreciate it. I'm sure a good number of mildly modified ITR owners would like it too (the ones that seek a quiet exhaust, that is).

And as much as I hate to part with it, my old T1R/Spoon N1 combo is finally up for sale (see sig.).

Edit - Oppsie. Forgot to mention, many thanks to BlueR (Marc) and ITRinEJ1 (Leo) for turning me into a JDM *****.

He did have the Spoon N1 before so his definition of "close to stock" might be a lil skewed.

Bleh. Don't you have an intake you need to get owned by again?

And a decent number of the R-Speed guys still have the stock exhaust. So I ain't that hard of hearing ... maybe.

What? WHAT DID YOU SAY!?

Per the butt dyno, about the same. Per the aural dyno, less zoomy.

But then again, my car is fairly stock (no lumpy goodness/cams yet).

Highly doubt I'll be bringing the Hype R out. Unless it suddenly gets sunny/50 degrees outside.

I should get some all season/snow tires one of these days.

ic, I've heard that it makes less power than the t1r/spoon, but I'm kinda wanting a quieter exhaust and the stock muffler is definitely outta the question (wont last a week). Anyone know how does the fujitsubo compares to t1r in power?

I have yet to see dyno comparisons off the same car. You have to realize. The Fujitsubo is very very well made, it does have 2 resonators just like the stock system and a "non" N1 muffler.

So the t1R and Spoon N1 you "would" think would yeild some more peak HP b/c a tad more free flowing, but you never know. Let Dyno's do the talking!

Beautiful Exhaust it is......

It's quiet. It's right up there with ...

Mugen Twinloop.
SMSP.
HyTech.

Is there any droning inside the cabin? I remember Mugen Mike saying that it's noticeably louder than the twinloop after he drove Chris N's car, and that's what swayed me away from the RM-01A.

Compared to the Mugen, probably a little more noise. There is probably some droning but it's unnoticable (to me) over the induction noise and tire rumble (old Azenis).

Cost? I think it was in the $800 region. I can't say for sure since it was ordered awhile back and the Yen/"En" is stronger now.
