Default b17 block with b16 head

I have a b16 that spun 2 rod bearings. I was thinking about gettin a b17 block that has 81.25mm ctr pistons in it. Would this be a good setup or would I be better off with just fixing the b16 bottom end. Other thing is that I found a b17 block and the guy says the rods need some machining and new bearings. Im thinking that the crank might be bad in it because it also spun a rod bearing. Do you guys think it would be a safe buy if the guy says the crank is ok. Thanks in advance

The B16A and B17A heads are identical. So if you put a B16A head on a B17A bottom end, you will basically just have a B17A. As for whether it is worth it, you will get 100cc more displacement and some more torque. And since the B17A bottom end actually has more than stock compression, you will get more additional power and torque than simply the stock difference. It appears that the B17A bottom end will require no more work than your B16A bottom end. So it could be a worthwhile performance upgrade.

I think you should do it. We can always get Chuck to do some work to it then BAM. Did you say it did come with the pistons and rods?
