If I have a greddy turbo kit which has an internal wastegate set at 7psi and I get a boost controller, can I just set the boost controller to 12psi and it'll boost 12 without any problems? Why do people upgrade their wastegate?

 

Yes if you get a boost contoller it will up your boost and people upgrade their WG so it will hold the exact amount of boost and not spike to 19psi and toast your engine.

 

so does greddy make an upgraded spring such as 10-12psi for their internal wastegate?

Not sure but a good controller and you should be fine.

 

My friend had a cheap xs manual boost controller on his 00si b16a2 he has a greddy kit also has had no issue with spiking at all! 10psi all day......

 

yeah turbo xs manual is a good one if you hook it up right. I had one worked great
on my bro's mr2 now.
