anyone put on a new steering wheel?
I was going to put on a new steering wheel using the momo hub. Has anyone done this, do I need any special tools to get the old wheel off, anything I need to know before I start? Also what did you do with your horn? thanks This is on a 89 crx si
I just put a Momo wheel on yesterday. All you need is a 1/2" ratchet, 6" extension, 19mm socket and a flat head screw driver to pry off the H emblem. The wheel should come with the horn button and it hooks right up to the hub.
i've got the MOMO Race (350mm) steering wheel. I'm not sure 19mm is right b/c when i took off my bolt, it was 3/4 inch. Maybe they're close enough to both work. The steering wheel is expensive; others might say to invest in something else, but i beg to differ for 2 reasons. 1) It completely changes the look of your interior (in a good way), and 2) It makes driving easier with more pleasure (especially w/ no power steering on the CRX!). Only problem is that it is relatively easy to steal. Also, when you actually install the sucker, it is a bit of a task to make it straight (at least I had problems with it). My words: if you got the $250 to drop on it, go for it.
I got the Race wheel too. It's a really nice wheel, I would recomend it. I'm positive it's a 19mm bolt. When you take off the stock wheel just make sure you line it up totally straight first. Then just stick on the new wheel.
I got the Momo Shuttle 320 mm from R1020 on the boards, and got my adapter for $42 US from this place in Canada (best I found, good service!).
But I have not put it on yet.
The 320mm might obscure the gauges a little, but steering response will be better, and my 6'-1" body will be able to heel/toe better!!

yup, w/ 6 little allen screws. It's really simple to swap steering wheels.
I got a used momo wheel (combat?) for $50 and the adapter from a friend.. but I still need to find a nice horn button. anyone got one? The only ones I can find are the gaudy momo ones.
also, the nut is 19mm, for doubters. but 3/4" = 19.05mm though.. (1" = 2.54cm)
