Default Anybody here actually buy and install a Carbon Hatch from JDMHondaparts?

A couple of months ago someone posted links and pics of a $450 16 lb Carbon hatch for the DC2 available form JDMHONDAPARTS.

I'm wondering how much the stock hatch weighed, how was the installation, how much support was there in the wing mounting area, and stuff like that?

Anybody KNOW anything?

Scott, who finds such a device legal for everywhere I plan to run in the next year, and can't help but salivate over a considerable highly placed weight saving...

From the posts I've read before, you transfer all your stock material to the new hatch.

Installation was straight foward. The whole hatch is shaved so you have to drill your own holes for a wing if you want to have one.

Doesn't that pretty much defeat the whole purpose of having a "light weight" hatch if you are just going to swap everything over anyway? Unless it is for riced purposes I guess..

Nah, just the hinges and the latch. Nobody would put stock glass on it, you'd use 3mm Lexan.

I called JDMHONDAPARTS. They haven't sold many (any?), and they don't know what a stock hatch weighs.

I can just take off the struts, and hold a bathroom scale under the latch, and make assumptions about the distribution - and that'd be close enough.

Just thought maybe somebody would know.

Scott, who will have to think about it, and the drive to El Monte. I like weight loss, it's horsepower that doesn't break or wear out...a bargain in some cases.

There is one guy on honda-tech that ordered one and installed it with a FAL lexan rear window already. Looks like it fits pretty good.

Jeez Scott... get with the program!

Chris: who recalls a few threads with some useful information and a few more with nothing but flames and rants...
