I just use a damp cloth then vacuum when needed, but to be honest I only did that once be cause I got in the car sweating like a pig after playing frisbe on the beach last year...
Other wise a good plasitc brush works wonders to list the seats back to life.

I actually have used window cleaner, the stuff you spray on and it foams up, to remove food stains from the seats (actually a hot dog I had lying on my passenger seat while putting on my seatbelt and getting the soda in place in the cupholder, and it rolled over as I forgot about it and started the car

ha ha, i prevented getting the R seats dirty last summer after being thrown in the lake by drying off and driving home nakked!!

use woolite. mild soap = woolite
it's a soap used for delicate fabrics. just ask your mom about woolite. i'm sure she'll know.
