Default Anyone know where this sensor/plug goes?

http://briefcase.yahoo.com/ishaqsyed@sbcglobal.net
under "My Documents"

I was wondering if anyone knows where that plug goes on the JDM ITR ('99).
I did a swap into a 00 GSR using the GSR harness; the check engine
light is going off - this is the only plug I can find that was left unplugged.
I thought it was to the coolant sensor in the T/S housing but I am pretty sure
there is already a sensor plugged into that..does anyone know what this is
and where it goes on the ITR?

Thanks!

You need to find out what the code is before you start guessing.

Here is how: http://www.c-speedracing.com/faq.php

Thanks for the informative website - I checked the codes..

6 = ECT sensor
22 = VTEC oil pressure switch
63 = oxygen sensor
86 = ECT circuit range/performance problem

ECT sensor is on the termostat housing correct? orginally I thought the unplugged
sensor I am showing in the pic was the ECT sensor (thats what the dealership idiots told me). But I looked on the housing and it looks like there is a plug already there?

Where is the VTEC oil pressure switch? Could the unplugged sensor I have left be that? What wire colors should I look for on harness?

Both the header and the Cat were replaced (DC headers and Catco); both are plugged in but could be malfunctioning? how do I figure out if need to be replaced; or what hte problem may be?

Thanks!

Peace.

What ECU are you using?

ECT sensor is on the side of the head behind the upper radiator hose housing.

The 2P connector on the thermostat housing is the thermoswitch for the cooling fan.

You might have to swap VTEC solenoids b/c the JDM solenoid might not have the pressure switch. Somebody else might know more about it, or you can just compare the JDM ITR and USDM GS-R solenoids. It should have two plugs...(1) 1P and (1) 2P.

Code 63 is the 2ndary HO2S. Check for continuity on the signal wire.

Swap your ECT/ VTEC oil plugs, you could have them backwards.

I don't have a plug on the VTEC soleniod; but they might have
put the wrong plug into the ECT place; so i'll swap it with the free one and see.

also; do I have to swap the VTEC soleniod or a way to bypass this?

i'm not sure what you mean about the o2 sensor...

thanks!

i'm using a P73 USDM ecu.

I have a JDM P73 ecu laying around; eventually sell;
but wouldn't plug up with my GSR wiring (OBD2.1 vs. OBD2.2) so
ended up getting the USDM ecu instead.

First off pics 1 and 3 show us absolutely nothing. Pic 2 is the sensor that plugs into the thermo-stat housing. But the sensor you show is an aftermarket sensor. Most likely the person before you had a VMU guage or something to read water temp. No idea why its not plugged in anywhere, but thats what the sensor is. And just to let you know, the sensor in the thermo housing is a fan switch. Tells the car when to kick in the radiator fan.

As for codes and such, thats something unrelated to your issue. However without actually seeing the car in person, its hard to tell where the wires are routing and stuff. This is the best explanation I can give based on what you provided.

Thanks SACDZ! They had plugged in the VTEC plug into the ECT;
After I switched; everything worked. Still throwing code 22 - but will
swap in my USDM VTEC soleniod from my blown GSR and should
take care of that also.
If anyone needs a JDM VTEC soleniod; let me know.

O2 sensor code also cleared..no idea why..but whatever.

Peace

i don't know if its the same on an OBD2 harness but my OBD1 b16 has a sensor like the one in pic 2 I believe it is a coolant temp sensor, it threads into the head right next to the hose that goes to the heater.

you need to change your solenoid to either a us or 95- jdm. usdm need vtec oil prs switch. and jdm 96+ don't use them. btw i cold see the pic but by reading this is what i came up with.

pic two is actully an EXTRA ECT sensor. The shop people
really tried to confuse me..
they took the ECT sensor off of my GSR and left it on the plug
and there was already an ECT sensor i the head of the ITR!

They gave me an extra ECT sensor; and lost my oil pressure switch.
I'm trying to swap in my GSR soleniod into the ITR; but the
stupid switch is missing. Anyone knwo where I can buy one without
getting hit by the delearship?

Thanks.
