Default 96 JDM Type R?

Does this motor exist? I blew the motor on my R and am in need of a new one and I found an importer selling a 96 JDM ITR Motor and Tranny. But I thought 97 was the first year of the ITR? Did Japan make a 96? What would the final drive be? If it's 4.7 I'd be very happy.

Crap:

95-97 JDM ITR = 97-01 USDM ITR = 4.40

98-01 JDM = 4.785

It definitely does exist......The 96 and 97 b18c(R) is a 4.40 FD and doesnt come with the 4-1 header like the 98 and up though.

Is that the only difference? It's still higher compression than USDM so Hp and Torque are still JDM, right?

Thanks for the replies. Mucho appreciated.

Be careful when you get a jdm motor. They are designed to run better fuel than what we have in the states.

Yes, you're right. I double checked that. Corrected again. We've got 94 octaine here, but I think Japan goes over a hundred if I'm not mistaken.
