Default question about using a GSR head w/dome pistons

well heres the thing,

im planning on getting a GSR portflow head and putting on a LS/vtec block with some ITR pistons.

is using the GSR head okay with dome pistons???

i hear different things such as the GSRs valves are seated differently from a b16 head, so the dome pistons may smash the valves. and i hear that its okay to run this setup.

i wanna know what you guys think, if this setup would work or not.

thanks

use c-speed calculator - i wanna tell you it will be ok, because the combustion chamber of the gsr is up more - so like putting a gsr head on a type r block works and equals less compression of a itr, but more than a gsr, not sure with ls rods though.

Gonna have to mill the rod 1mm on each side to get the ITR pistons to work.

Setup sounds fine, haven't heard of an issue with the valves. But I'm not 100% sure, anybody know for sure?

I ran ITR pistons in a GSR motor with ITR cams no problem.

itr rods and gsr rods teh same length i thought.

ls rods are weak, spend the extra 100 bux to get some gsr rods and have them balanced then put some arp bolts on

ITR rods and GSR rods are the same length. Same stroke-87.2mm.
LS rods are shorter. You have to use LS rods with an 89mm LS crank. But ARP rod bolts on the LS rods is a smart move.

i say you run the beeatch with some ctr pistons, mill the head and run a mugen 1 ply. it should run fine...........haha! using ls rods in a gsr block require you to modify the oil squirters inside the block. running that head on that block should give you no problems unless you run something higher than a ctr piston. hope this helps..........peace!

I ran a GSR head on a stock ITR block with no problems. GSR head will give you a little more compression than a b16 head. I also ran a GSR head on my last motor with 11.5:1 Wiseco pistons, and had no problems.

Good Luck

Either way, I would clay the setup and determine how much piston to valve clearance you will have.

i am pretty sure its the other way around, the gsr combustion chamber is smaller then the pr3 head so compression will increase with a gsr head.
