check engine light and atts light 2000 prelude
I had skunk2 cam gears and an apex-i vafc instally by a local reputable shop. In the process 14 valves were bent and a three day process turned into three months . It has now been five months and the lights are still on. The code came up 1259, which is vtec malfunction ,but the vtec still engages. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem. Other modifications are pulleys, intake, exhaust, MSD, and other things that don't realy affect this issue. I would greatly appreciate any help.
when my brother bent some valves on his 2001 lude he also had the check engine light and ATTS light on even though the valves had been replaced, but the thing was his car would vibrate at idle until he took into the honda dealer and found out his timeing was off.
the shop said that the timing marks were wrong on the aftermarket cam gears, but I don't believe them. I plan on taking the car to my dealer, but they are a little iffy about working on it since I have some mods. I'll check into the timing and see what happens.
does your car vibrate at idle? I believe my brother got misfires across all cylinders and he too could engage VTEC even though his check engine light was on. I'm not too sure on the cam gear thing, but did they tune the cam gears on the dyno or when they installed them they just left the timing marks off from 0 degrees?
My car seems to run fine. There are no idle problems, and I believe there has been a gain in power. 176whp 160tq on the dynojet. Assuming I had around 80% - 85% of the advertised 200 crank horsepower, that is a 10 - 15 hp increase. The main concern is the unknown problem that may be serious. Are these numbers accurate and would this problem seem to be more electrical or mechanical?
The VAFC is probably the culprit. Regardless if the company is reputable or not could be a faulty install, take off the VAFC and see if the problem goes away. When your ECU throws a code related to vtec engagement you should start with what is contrlling the VTEC, the VAFC.
I was thinking that that is what I might have to do. Also, I do not consider them reputable anymore since they've been jerking me around since July. Thanks for your help.

EIP Tuning. They,ve done everything that i haven't, which is most of the work. Custom exhaust and intake. Real clean and nice but this has gotten out of hand.
