Default Axle removal

Can someone tell me how the HELL to take the passenger axle off??? I forget how, and now I'm stuck. I removed the HUGE nut in the center of the wheel on the end of the axle, and took off the caliper and even the rotor to get a better look. Then I took off the locking pin and nut on the very bottom of the control arm. I also removed the long steel pin from the fork. I think I need to separate the ball joint right above where I removed the locking pin and bolt but I cant get it to budge with a ball joint remover. Am I just not hitting it hard enough? I even jacked up the hub a little so maybe the lower arm would fall down or at least fall when I shoved the ball joint remover in there. BUT NOOOOOOOO not happening. Someone please tell me what the hell i'm doing wrong.

Use a pickle fork. You can get them at any good tool store. The pickle fork has a slope on the fork part, so that when you slide the fork between the ball joint and hammer with a sledgehammer, it will separate the arm and ball joint. You'll probally wind up tearing the boot however (unless you are pretty careful) so I'd recomment getting some urethane ball joint boot covers just in case. The stock honda ones are much harder to put on than the urethane boot covers.

Try to twist the axle and push...it should pop in.

If it doesn't get a big pry bar and pry that sucker in there!

You can try putting the hub on and then pushing on the hub to push it in. Place the lower ball join in the lower arm too so you don't have to support the hub.

You'll know it's in all the way when the spindle nut tightens exactly even with the end of the axle.

i got it in, i had to hit the end of it with a mallet. what a frigg'n project.....here's my new dilemma....i replaced my driver axle a few months ago, and it's clicking again, but the boot is not ripped??? WTF??? and i think i need to replace the driver wheel bearing because i'm pretty sure that's where the humming noise is coming from....yippee!!!!!

but does that make sense for the axle to be clicking again and not be ripped? It was an aftermarket axle from NAPA.
