Looking for a relativly stock EK civic. Its for my buddy who is trying to get into a sporty car that he can tune. How much should he expect to pay for an EK in relativly good condition?

No, seriously I would have to say probably around $10K. I got a '92 Civic Si HB with rims and suspension already on it for $5200. I haven't looked into EK's too much though, I'm just making a guess on that figure. Hope this helps.

 

I have owned 3 Ek's and prices change all the time. The EK was discontunied so they can be hard to find.
97 EK with 50k was 7800
96 EK with 100k was 6800
99 EK was 10 with 30k super clean!
the EK is a great car to anyone who wants one ha ha

 

I've seen a couple of later model ones here in Houston for around $9-11. A lot of the guys around here getting rid of their old project EK will ask high end because they think that because of all the mods it's worth it. IMO I would start with one that has not been raced or messed with so you can start from the beginning.

when referring to EK's most people just say it to refer to all 96-00 honda civics.

but my question is..if my vin says EJ8, why is it refered to as an EK? are jdm coupes EK[enternumberhere] too?

so you've actually thought about getting another car, I thought you were just going to swap the engine? Hope you find one, that would be real nice if you can convert your current turbo set-up to a hatch w/ a b18.

That's what the plan is, (although subject to change)
EK, B18, or B16, whichever is in better shape, add my turbo/suspension from this car...and viola!
very fun, very fast car

 

EK specifically refers to the hatch back chassis.

i got my 98 ek with 23k on it in mint condition for 9200...and that was from a dealer too so you know u can get it for less privately...but it was the color ive been looking for and the price wasnt that bad with all things considered....
