Default Do NOT shove stripped wires into the ECU connector....

....and expect a solid electrical connection to be made. Wires that are added at the ECU connector need to have a pin crimped on the end (or you could cut'em off from a junkyard and do some soldering).

It never really occured to me that people are just stripping off the end of the wire and shoving it up in the ECU connector (till today). This really hurts internet troubleshooting, as the strip and shove method should never be used, and thus wouldn't be asked about by the person trying to help troubleshoot....it should just be ASSumed that you wired things up correctly.

Are there any other sources, besides junkyards, to tap for these pins? Its been mentioned that Honda sells a re-pin kit, but no one seems to know the part # for it.

wow...I thought that was one of those things we all learn at birth..

Don't know a good source.. I'm a electrical engineer in the auto industry, I am rather good at repinning harnesses and salvaging pins. I just usually scrounge around my lab at work for harness pins that look right..

yeah, I thought most of us Honda heads knew not to do that. BTW I recently checked with my local Honda Parts dept. no re-pin kit is available.

I don't think you can get a "repin kit" from Honda, but I know that there is one available, I have borrowed one from a local certified Honda mechanic before.

I just went to the local wrecking yard and chopped the female ECU connectors off a Civic. I'm setup with PINS for life now...

Same here, I must have literally 100's of every OBD. I have this big box of engine harnesses too, 8 of them to be exact and 3 full cabin harnesses.
