You live in Cali...the car state (IMO)...I am sure you know someone or can make a friend that has one....I would def. solder it. Take a look at the FAQ thread up top and look for the VAFC wiring diagram thread link...help you out a little maybe.

you can use connectors because it would be easier but i would solder the wires because they are less likely to become disconnected, etc... and plus...it looks cleaner.

just get a soldering iron. they are cheap and pretty easy to use. dont rush your install. you will regret it in the end, when the fire dept is putting your car out.

only if you put your jdm roadflare right next to it.

you can buy a soldering iron at wally world (walmart) for like 10 bucks....all of your wiring should be done this way, it would be a good inexpensive investment and you would have a better connection and don't have to worry about it coming loose.

solderings easy. the key is heating up the joint and just letting it melt over - don't touch the solder to the iron. and don't blow on the connection. make sure you get the right kind of solder too.

if you search google for soldering tips or how to solder i'm sure you can learn how.

good soldering iron = under 30 bucks
good solder = under 6 bucks
shrink wrap tubing = .85 cents

having good connections that dont break/**** out ....Priceless

seriously, i have NO previous experiance on how to solder wires together, so i bought a pencil iron (small electrical iron in the shape of a pencil) and started practicing on scrap peices using HUGE solder that was suppose to be for like at least 35 gauge wire.... on 16 guage wire... the smaller the solder and wires get, the easier it becomes.... i then soldered in my VAFC to my civic harness with EASE, in about an hour

*Hints*
#1: still in doubt? PRACTICE. just practice on small lengths/thicknesses of wires and solder, until you get it right.

#2: Heat the WORK, not the solder, (which means, place the iron on the wire to heat it up, then just touch the solder to the wires you want to join, and it melts over them like butter, creating a massive bond that doesnt break, and has a VERY good connection, just like the original wire)

#3: SHRINKWRAP YOUR FINISHED WORK
shrinkwrap is like hella good electrical tape. just cut off a length of the shrinkwrap tube long enough to cover the soldered connection you are going to make, place it on one side of the cut wire... after you solder the connection, slide the shrinkwrap over the exposed wire/connection, and put a lighter under it... it shrinks, and the connection is protected...

and now... if you STILL want to just tap into wires, instead of doing it the easier/better way... then...

hmm i've never heard of the shrinkwrap trick. won't that **** melt and / or catch fire if the connection gets hot enough? i think i'll just stick to good old fashioned electrical tape.

nope, shrink wrap does NOT melt... it hardens and contracts when exposed to heat... no problems what so ever can be caused, because you have to cut threw the hard-casing of the solder to get to the wire.. its spacifically made for this exact type of thing

basically... its like stock tubing on a wire. it can not touch other things and short out,....... unlike electrical tape that unsticks/moves/unwrapps and not to mention how hard it is to get over wires that are so close together like an ECU harness

I have installed a few vtec controllers done it with connectors and soldering you do get the best results with soldering and the shrink wrap makes it look real professional.
