Default C's owners.... I got a question.

(I'm posting this message in the ITR forum because it has the most traffic and hopefully I'll be able to get some help because my C's short stroke shifter is acting like a little bitch.....)

I finally put my C's in after having sit around for 10 months, with the help of a buddy who had access to a full lift. Is it supposed to have play from side to side? Is it supposed to feel stiffer than the OEM one? Or is it because of the bushings. Before I put it in, I was able to shift with by flicking my fingers. I can't do that anymore. Is it supposed to have play from side to side? When I am in gear, I can move the shifter from left to right. Also at higher RPMS, approaching redline, there's a huge rattling noise. I think it might be my Spoon **** because I haven't tightened the nut (I can't find my allen keys) but when I put in the shifter, I replaced the bushing with a Prothane one, but I used the old spacers (small metal cylinders) from the old bushing, which were rusted and I actually had to pry them out with a screwdriver.

Help?

make sure the nut/bolt is tight at the bottom of the shifter. Mine backed out and the bolt fell out when I was at Street of Willow Luckily the guys from Tri Point Eng helped me out

The shifting will feel stiffer or "notchy". That's normal.

Did you get the C's used? Mine came w/ two ball bearings (looks just like the kind used in skateboard wheels) and an aluminum spacer.

yoshi - who says this is his last post for night...99 zzzzzzzzz........

Sounds like something is loose.

I settled for a combination of a Spoon shifter bushing and the stock rubber stabilizer bushing. Very smooth shifting, very little play.

Also, make sure you use plenty of grease around the shifter bushing.

Thanks for the input everyone. I got it new and it had the hardware and the bearings and sleeve/pin secured with a rubber band. I guess I'll have to pull it apart sometime....
