Default ECU Fuse

Well, so I'm just rolling along and all of a sudden all my gauges go flat, not like winding down but just boom, zero. So I knew Something was up w/ the electrical system. Well I pop my hood, and sure enough, the Blue 15A ECU fuse was just toasted. Ok, no problem, replace it.

Well 8 fuses later, I don't know what to do. The car won't start, I replace the fuse and as soon as I turn the key, it blows again. Anyone have any insight? I just had the motor re-dropped in because we replaced the Transmission case. They didn't attach some of the wiring harnesses (gray ones) to the harness mount points (on the back of the distributor for example). Here's what the motor consists of:

'91 B18A1 Bored .25 over
'00 Civic Type R pistons (13:1 CR in LS block, have to run 101 octane or I get ping)
'96 GS-R head (JUN 2's, Port Polish, Springs, Retainers, FPR)
'00 Civic Type R Transaxle LSD (4 puck unsprung ACT, 8lb flywheel
All the usuial stuff (Pullies, gears, I/H/E)

Thanks again!

Nice list you got there, but that doesn't say crap about your electrical system.

Why not think back to the last "electrical" item you installed or played with. Then you can trace it back to the source.

Yeah, it's after busting up my orignal GS-R Block. Well, The motor has been in for about 1200 miles, and then repulled last Friday to install a new Transmission case. While the motor was out, I replaced the evaporator core (it had a leak) and if you know anything about that, you have to pull out the heater fan motor and everything. Well I forgot to attach the wires to the motor, so I did that yesterday, and also reconnected the powersteering (put the belt back on). I don't see how that would relate. Oh yeah, did I mention I have a V-AFC?

Also, my SRS light has been on for some strange reason, and I have HID headlights (I know this sounds wierd), but I replaced my regular intake w/ an AEM CAI the other day, and every time I'd go into VTEC, one HID would flicker, then go out. I'd have to turn the car off, then on again to get it to come back on. I would think that some kind of extra voltage goes through the system when the VTEC x's over, then that somehow would charge the xenon gas too much and it wouldn't resonate at that energy level. Anyway, just a couple of thoughts.

Maybe an alternator or battery issue????

Sounds like you have grounding issues. Check all your grounds and make sure they are making good contact. If you have and OHM meter, meter the valve cover studs to the - terminal in OHMS, you should have less than a .05 ohm drop. If there's more than that, you have a ground problem.

Well, I'll take it down to the importshop tomorrow and have 'em take a look at it. I don't have an Ohm meter, and the car is all the way across town right now, so I'll worry about it tomorrow. But thanks for your help.

Well I forgot to say that I have a damaged knock sensor, and it was unplugged from the bock, but the full sensor was not removed from the lead, and that's what shorted out. Der, I feel like a dumbass, oh well. Thanks
