i realized its gonna be alot of money just to tune my b18c1 engine and wasnt sure if it was wort it. heres what ive got:
Apexi Intake
Skunk2 Stage 1 cams
DC JDM 4-1
2.5 cat
Apexi 60mm N1
Skunk2 manifold
ACT flywheel
is it worth the extra hundreds of dollars to go hondata over the VAFC??

Yes. I've had a VAFC, it worked ok but sucked at adding fuel, only really good at taking away. Hondata does it 10 times better, at any point, under any load condition. Then you have the whole aspect of timing control and VTEC actually being on the correct timing table when you lower it. Also factor in adjustable rev limiter and a whole list of other stuff and its definitely worth it.
Besides you are a 96 which is OBD1 correct? If so it won't cost you much more than a VAFC. $295 for the S200 and about $50 to get your current ECU socketed.

Yeah I'm OBD2 as well and its been well worth it so far. Heck after spending 45min street tuning I was convinced.

I just switched over to an S200 from a chipped ecu and vafc. I spent hours on the dyno tuning the VAFC and got about 185hp and 135 torque from my poor man's R setup. With the s200, the tuner pulled the about 2 hp from 7000-8500 rpms and a about 136 ft-lbs of torque in about and hour. The VAFC was tuned pretty well, but the drivability difference is huge. The car actually doesn't use nearly as much gas and is much smoother across the board. I traded my VAFC and come cash for the s200, so it was a good investment for me. Also, you have all the extra options if you want to add them later on as well.
Yeah I would spend the extra cash and get the hondata as well. It shouldnt be as much as you think though p28s are around 100 to 125 shipped, conversion harnesses are cheap now like 79 shipped from jdmshit right now I believe and hondata s200 was going for 240 shipped when I got it, and if you have any soldering skills the directions that come with the hondata are very precise and easy to follow so you should have no trouble socketing it yourself.
