Default Installing Guages

Im going to order some guages soon and I'd like to install them myself if at all possible and I was wondering if you guys could help me out on how to do them. I'm going to be getting AutoMeter Phantom guages(A/F, fuel pressure, and nitrous pressure.) I believe they have 2 types to choose from mechanical/electrical. I'll get which ever one's are better. So any help on hooking them up is greatly appreciated.

TIA

Electrical ones are easier to hook up since all you have to do is splice into wires. Mechanical ones are more accurate, but require tapping into lines and such. I'm going with electrical ones, myself. Depending on the type of gauges you get (oil pressure, fuel pressure, etc.) you may only be limited to electrical or mechanical.

Let's see...A/F would be only electrical, fuel pressure would be only mechanical, and nitrous pressure is only mechanical too.

I have a sport comp nitrous pressure gauge (mechanical of course) and 5' long SS braided line if you'd like to buy it...both are brand new and in the box. Let me know...rchim@home.com

Oh yeah, and they do have electrical fuel pressure gauges...it's just a sender attached to the fuel line and wires running from it to the gauge.

The Air fuel gauge is not accurate go with a halmeter af30 or better.

Actually I'm getting these guages at cost so, I'm gonna stick with these. I know there's better but I couldnt pass up the deal. So could someone take me kinda step by step as to hooking each of these up.

FWIW, I wouldn't splice the O2 wire going to the ECU for the A/F guage. The voltage levels sent to the ECU are very small and splicing the wire will change the impedance of the wire therefore changing the level the ECU is sent...

I am going to be adding a second O2 sensor on my 89 Honda Civic for an A/F guage...

I do know that people splice the wire all the time though....

Yeah, most everyone splices that wire. Where else could you splice into? A 2nd 02 sensor seems a bit much!

The only place I can think of that might be ok to splice into is very close to the O2 sensor. This way the voltage sent to the ECU won't be as degraded.

As an Electical Engineer, a second O2 doesn't seem to a bit much at all.
