What do people use to insulate your aftermarket intake? My aftermarket intake tube gets extremely hot and I would like to insulate it from the engine.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I was talking about the intake tubing...I want to insulate that and was wondering what people are using.
Home Depot has a wide selection of sheet metal and brackets you can use to modify a box to cover the intake. It cost me $0.34.

Try header wrap OR I bought this insulation kit from Summit for intakes. Its a aluminum style wrap. It goes on easy and reflects heat. I think I paid like 40 bucks for it. I'm not using it so if you wanna buy it from me i'll sell it to you cause I'm **** poor broke right now.
Do this, Scroll to the bottom:
I made some heat shields..and thet will work with ANY intake configuration.

Here's a wrapped AEM....
Notice the wire running into the rubber coupling in the last picture?
That is a thermocouple temperature sensor. I measured the air temps around town and on the highway before and after wrapping at the throttle body. I noticed a difference of up to 15 degrees!

What about heat soak after the vehicle is shut off. The header wrap was designed to keep heat in. If it does warm up does it take longer for it to cool off?

The nature of the wrap material blocks heat. Therefore I doubt it would let heat "soak through" in substantial amounts. Even so, upon turning on the car again, the lightly warmed air inside the intake would be consumed rapidly, allowing cooler air to replace it.
