Default carbon fiber hood

which is the lightest on the market now my brother has a cf hood made by his friend and it weighed in at 7.5lbs I recently bought a vis hood and it weighed almost the same as stock I'm looking to lighten up the front not make it look "nice" I remeber someone posted something about this before (comparing weights of hoods on the market) but I couldn't find it thru search can somebody help me out with a link?

The same happened to me. I bought a VIS hood for my 99 Si which was just about the same weight as my stock hood VIS hoods are more for show cars. They are really nice quality, but are heavy as hell.

If you want a hood that looks good and is lightweight, check out Body Kits Northwest. My friend had one on his 92 hatch. Really nice and lightweight.

Whats your model and how much are you looking to spend? I can get spoon quality hoods - layer of cf, layer of kevlar, layer of cf; vacuum infused epoxy resin. Strong and light.

I think Fiber Images have the lighest carbon fibers hoods because they don't inculde a frame underneath. THe VIS does include a frame and therefore will make the hood about the same as stock

I have a Fiber Images hood and it seems very light and durable, I've never weighed it but it feels about 8-12 pounds. They also have a nice clean weave and pretty good fitment.
