In a bind. need some help. piston to wall clearance.
I bought some used SRP pistons on here for a d16z6. they are standard bore. I also picked up a used motor at the junk yard. The sleeves look to be in great shape and the factory hone marks are still visible. I just got a call from the machine shop that the piston to wall clearance would already be .005 to .006. What should I do? I was hoping to get it around .003. Thanks for any help.

I would call and check with JE/SRP about the wall to skirt clearance. .005 is way too loose, unless they expand like crazy...Normal forged pistons usually requires .002-.004 of clearance, and all depends on the silicon content on the piston.

It's supposed to be in the .003 range. I looked on the JE site. I'm screwed now because the block is already posted. My fault though, since I should have checked the clearance before hand. My only option would be get another block that's less worn, or buy oversized pistons right? thanks.
You can send you pistons to Endyn and they have some special ceramic coating that will build up clearance. Go to http://www.theoldone.com and send them an email.
