ctr cams QUESTIONS????

that was my motor blow to bits
bone stock besides ctr cams
it is very important to up grade to duel springs and ti retainers
its not worth the chance of blowing your motor like me]
learn from my mistake and always upgrade valve train when upgrading cams
in my case the weak stock retainers broke and droped a valve whice blew a hole in the piston and cracked the cylinder wall
also i like to add that i never really reved my car
never took it past 8k and rarely sees high rpm
and when it blew it was only at 4k rpm

first gen jdm b16
and i guess your going to say that it was a old motor with lots of miles so the springs and retainers were probably weaken

I have a 1st gen b16 with ITR cams and I also used ITR springs. One thing I forgot was to use ITR retainers and ITR retainer clips (the half circle things that hold the valve in the retainer)
During my 4th open lapping day I had a retainer "crack" down the middle almost folding in half. fortunately it didn't break and drop a valve but it did cause one cylinder to lose compression. I replaced clips and retainers with appropriate ITR replacements and I've seen 2 track days since with 9k rpms....
Now I just need all that **** in my dizzy to stop dying everytime I go to the track... damn JDM 1st gen dizzies!

It looks like riceball777's motor has like 300k miles on it. That is probably why his motor blew, not because he had the CTR cams with stock valve springs and retainers.
I did double springs on intake and moved old intake double springs to exaust. With TI retainers and no problems with over 1 year of racing on them.
