Default Anyone have California Type-R conversion, or aka the Type-CL R front bumper/light conversion.?

Is this any good? I am planning on one to use on my gf's GS
Reliable or lots of problems? Especially the lights and wirings...etc
Do I have to use those mesh grills, can I take them off?
And how is the color matching with the rest of the car body?

That is the ugliest conversion ever made IMO. Just get a 98+ with the ITR factory kit and you should be set. Or JDM conversion if you have the money. Both look nice.

Why thank you for your opinion, I believe there are much worse kits out there, you are welcome to your opinion though.

Yes i have it, and only a few problems as w/ any fiberglass kit it may crack if you often cruise bumpy roads w/ stiff suspension, and yes you can remove the mesh I recently removed the center piece. Mine came w/ cracks though(F'in UPS) getting fixed free of charge by body shop My guy made brackets to mount the lights behind the bumper instead of on it, as this may create more stress on the bumper. IMHO I think it looks better w/ them mounted behind the bumper, but my shop guy cut the light holes to fit flush on most of the light. Here's some pics:

Opps! The wiring is simple you may have to extend the headlight wires, I didn't, I just cut the plastic ties that held them down and they just reached the housing. Thj bulbs are the same for the cl except for the corners(I think they were $5 ea.) and they plug right into the existing wiring. Color match is going to depend on your body shop if they are good they will get it right. L8R

Well.....considering the front bumper only cost around $300.......and if I can find those CL lights in Junk yard for less than $100. It will be a very decent upgrade. And yes...I am on a budget here. Even fiberglass JDM convertion is too much, factory ITR kits are too tame, I have it so I know. Most kits I see on the internet is really beyond my taste, the CL lights have some weirdness on it, but like all other cars, it can be fix with eye lids.

And TEG, where in NJ is the shop? I'm from NY, thank god I can find any place that does the job right. BTW what side skirt are they?

I agree. If you want to convert the R, then just get the JDM R front end. By far the best looking and best fitting conversion you can do.

Hell, it's stock.

well, everyone has their own opinion, but i like the conversion very much, i get compliments all the time and it baffles alot of people, here are some pics of mine

some things to look out for, i have owned 2 of these conversion bumpers the first was very crappy fiberglass and was much thinner than the one i have on currently, so becareful where u get ur kit, u could end up buying a knockoff of very poor quality like i did with the first one, but good luck with whatever u decide to do, i went to nopi yestewrday and saw many cars with the cl conversion and most of them comnplained a bout the quality of the kit and the fitment problems, just somethign to keep in mind, but like i said i am happy with mine, later

yeah, if u go to http://www.andysautosport.com and look at the kits, they sell 2 versions of the cl headlight conversion kits, the firts is the california type r kit, the front on it is much more rounded and smooth and doesnt look agressive at all, that is the one that i had first, the other one they sell is the california type r bomb kit, that is the one pictured above, it is more jagged and gives a much more aggressive look, just whichever u prefer, later

Thank you everyone for your opinions and info

Well, my ITR will definetly use the JDM Metal Kit. My GF's Automatic silver GS will use the cheaper Cali-R conversion...and no, not the bomb version, just the clean looking one without the mesh. For some reason, both of us hated the 4 rounded head lights of G3 Tegs, Perhaps we both watch Best Motoring and grew a sense of image of how integra should be...the rectangular lights.
She currently has a WW front chin spoiler, and was stolen last night. And a set of M3 side skirts...She want to use this oppurtunity to change the front.
If the kit have quality problems, can someone please tell me a good place to buy without knock-off products?

The GS will be as follow:

Cali-R Front bumper conversion and take out the mesh: http://www.andysautosport.com/images/9400cal_front2.jpg

Extreme Side skirts: http://www.import-trader.com/product...productid=2536

OEM Rear Bumper
OEM ITR Spoiler
