Custom .40 over type R pistons???
Hey guys...
saw an ad for a GSR motor, with these custom .40 over type R pistons...
Just trying to understand how exactly that is possible, the largest i've since is the .25 over. Just wondering who would have manufactured these and some prices on it?
It also says it yields a 1.9 liter displacement, is that possible?
thx

sure if it has a ls 89mm crank thats possible. otherwise with .04" overbore (82mm) your lookin at 1842cc's (gsr crank) 1880cc's with an 89mm crank
anyway .02 over (.5mm) is a common size for aftermarket but usaually OEM stuff doesn come in .25mm

If you run a .02 over (.5mm), 82mm bore do you need to resleeve?
Also, how will the LS crank effect R/S ratio?
thx for the quick response btw.

Often times the info given in for sale posts is inaccurate. Sometimes due to ignorance, and sometimes because the seller is a scammer. Talk to the party that is selling the motor to find out exactly what they are talking about.

right but he said they were custom type r pistons... i was assuming they were R clones...
as far as the r/s ratio yeah a LS crank will make it lower numerically. this equates to about a 500 rpm or so shift of the tq curve to the lower end of the rpm range. the only reason i included it is if he saif it was a 1.9 it would have to be a ls crank.
you can run a .5 over (.02") you dont have to resleave, im not so sure about the 1mm (.04") though. it seems kinda risky but im sure it can be done.
