Default put a NEW shoft shifter in

Well, I finally got sick of my old DC sports short shifter and bought a B&M pro edge shifter to replace it. I had the DC sports one since way back when Carlex did that super huge group buy, if anyone recalls that. I've also got urathane shift bushings which seem to have held up just fine over the couple years they've been in there.

Anyhow, the B&M rocks. The DC was okay, but it was really stiff to shift and my wife basically couldn't even drive the car because of that. The B&M has a super nice pivot and shifts with way less effort. The throws are about the same as the DC shifter length wise, but the B&M doesn't have the bend in it, so it is a little closer to the dash. Here are before and after pics:

before (DC Sports in 1st gear)

after (B&M in 1st gear)

It looks like the Master Pimp Eskram posted a pretty good link... To a site by Carlex actually! Carlex posted a nice thread with lots of pictures way back when everybody bought these (DC) shifters, too. I think it was actaully before honda-tech existed, though, so I don't know what ever happened to it (probably over on honda-acura.net somewhere?).

The Helms manaul (or probably any other service type manual) has a good section on removing and replacing it.

What notch do you have yours set on and do you have any rattles? I have mine on the middle but don't have my engine together yet so I don't know if any of the settings rattles.

Thanx

What B & M shifter are you guys using? The one with the bearing mount or the one without?? I am assuming the one with the bearing mount is better, but is it worth the extra $$ ??

b18bpwr - one of the reasons I bought the new shifter was that my old DC shifter was banging on my Apexi WS exhaust. I have it set in what I beleive is the "middle" set of notches, too, and the B&M still hits the damn exhaust, but not nearly as much as the DC did. No other rattles from the shifter, though. Probably if you put it on the longest throw, it might move the pivot enough so that it wouldn't hit the exhaust anymore.

GS-Racer01, I think b18bpwr and I both have the "pro edge" shifter, which has the bearing mount. I think it's pretty nice, it was definately worth it over the DC sports, just because the movement is so much more fluid.
