OT- Zanardi might lose both legs
Update On Condition of Tagliani And Zanardi
INJURY UPDATE: According to Dr. Steve Olvey, CART Director of Medical Affairs, Alex Tagliani was awake and alert when he arrived at the track medical facility. He reported lower back pain, had feeling in all four extremities, he is headed to Klinikum Berlin-Marzahn (hospital) for x-rays and further tests. Alex Zanardi is in extremely critical condition with injuries to both lower extremities, and a significant loss of blood. He is breathing on his own, and responding to direction. He is being airlifted to Klinikum Berlin-Marzahn for treatment of his injuries.
This is all I could find, can someone fill me in on what happend?

Zanardi spun coming out of the pits, and was hit by Alex Tagliani at 200MPH. According to news reports one leg has been lost above the knee, and one below.
All this, in the race that was re-named form the German 500 to the American Memorial 500.

He received a CT scan and x-rays, which revealed no injuries. He also received an x-ray of his left knee, which revealed no injuries. The current plan is to keep him under observation for 24 to 48 hours. Alex Zanardi has lost both of his legs, one above the knee, one below. He also sustained a possible broken pelvis, he was in stable condition when he was admitted to surgery at about 6:00 p.m. local time. The procedure was expected to take about five hours.

oh man... this is truely horrible. man.. this is just disgusting.. what horrible week in the world. I am thankful that he survived that horrifiec impact and hopes that he can live a somewhat decent life. thanks for all the memories alex
what makes this even worse, as if it could be, is that fact that this is just about the only national sporting event taking place this weekend.
Anyone but him, man...He was one of my all-time favorites, up there with Schumi and JPM. The pass he pulled on Herta at Laguna...simply amazing. One of the most talented racers in rceent years.
The way F1 is going, he may be able to make a comeback. The cars are getting so sophisticated that most drivers only use one foot anyway. I'm being serious.

Yeah it sucked
but i guess if really wanted to...he could get articial legs....thank goodness he's even alive!
I felt sick the whole night thinking about what happend
I think he was a very talented driver and perhaps one of the best CART drivers of all time(i know he had a tough time in F1...but who cares)
I'd like to show how much respect i have for him by putting a small zanardi emblem on the back of my car
anyone know how the zanardi nsx emblem looks.....or does CART have stuff like Nascar has, where u can buy a decal or emblem with the number of the racer u like?
pictures of the emlem would be appreciated
