get some jdm 1 pieces (plastic). get jdm front bumper with the jdm bumper support. gut it. no subs/speakers/radio. take out the sunroof and fill it. that should be a good start

Take off the bumper support itself.
A fiber glass front and rear bumper
Fiber glass or carbon fiber fenders
Spare tire goes outta there
Smallest battery you can find that has enough power to crank the car
Take off the stock air box add short ram air intake
Take off bumper support in back
If you have a spoiler it goes bye bye
after taking the carpeting off the hatch you will see metal supports in the hatch (on the hatch itself) take a dremel and grind some down.
Take the saftey side impact bars out of the doors

While taking out the sound deadning take a heat gun and scraper to take it off.

why does everyone say they are sooo heavy? they are heavier than a civic...no ****. but lighter than a gen3 integra.

make sure you don't lighten the rearend too much, you'll have way too much weight up front. move the battery to the back.

please don't comprimise the safety of yourself and any one else. keep the bumper supports and side beams in. i was involved in a major accident a few days ago, in the E-class, where i was pushed by a tow truck into a tahoe. the roads were icey. if it wouldn't have been for excellent crumple zones, abs, and airbags i would be hurting much more. if the car is strictly for the track, please use a roll bar. might add weight, but well worth it.

race plates makes a c/f replacement for the sunroof hole. there is a guy on http://www.g2ic.com that is making c/f front fenders too. might take some weight off the front end.

Oh ya fill the rear wiper spot with a cap. Take off the whole exhaust use pipes straight as possible with little bends and if bends use mandrel bends. Go with some 15" rota slips with lighter tires. Go get 2 light racing seats.

weight reduction = better than buying performance parts. if you can take a stock da and lose 1000 lbs.. you'll be a lot faster than a car with 5 grand invested in it running full interior <N/A> . not only that it'll handel a lot better and gives you super gas milage etc etc hehe the advantages are too many to list.

currently...
no spare and jack, header, full exhaust, intake, CF hood =o, 20 lb battery, lil bit lighter wheels, no rear wiper, jdm front bumper support. I think total savings is about 120 lbs.

It is like losing a person.

ihave a 90 gs, abs, ps, ac, almost an empty tank was 2730 with me in it (i wieght 180) full interior but no spare, floor mats, etc. they are heavy cars but creature comforts are nie. i really wanna get rid of my abs brakes.....

i think a lexan hatch glass would be awsome that hatch glass is a heavy mo fo!

Lowest I have actually been in (and helped with) was a 1990 RS, gutted interior, racing seat+stock passenger seat, sound deadening removed (all of it), jdm b16, powersteering completely removed, stock exhaust manifold, 17" RG knockoffs, Tanabe Sustec coilver suspension, Tanabe exhaust .. 2100lbs without driver.

If he went and added an aftermarket header, 15" wheels, CF hood/fenders, jdm bumper support, lexan windows, etc., removed the passenger seat he would have been well under 2000lbs without driver. Mind you, a roll cage would have added a bit of weight back.
