B18C or B18c1???
Hey guys im new here, signed up a long time ago and really never posted, but why do people always talk about buying a B18C1 when you can buy a B18C. What is the price difference between those two motors, and is the price difference that great where its not worth the extra 10 horses. Thanks for any replies.
B18C1 = USDM Integra GS-R (94-01)
B18C = JDM Integra SiRG (GS-R) (94-01)
B18C = JDM Integra Type-R (96-01)
You are referring to the differences between the USDM and JDM versions of the GS-R motor. Some people prefer USDM motors while other would rather have the slight increase and go with a JDM equivalent swap. JDM GS-R motors are easier to come across now as compared to the US ones.

I kno there is a difference in where the motor came from. I was asking why people prefere the usdm b18c1 because it lacks that 10 extra horses. I was wondering if it was a because theres a big money difference in each motor, and is not worth the extra 10 horses?
because it is USDM.
You can actually get a USDM b18c1 with a verifiable number of miles.
Its pretty hard to tell what you will get when you buy a JDM swap, but most seem to be just fine.

well there obviously is quite a difference between a USDM c1 and c5, gsr and type R...
-lsd tranny, shorter gears, better i/m, better head, and some other ****...granted there basically the same motors, but the c5 is alittle better from the start...
but what i've always wondered is....when you order a JDM b18c, since over there the gsr's and type r's, all the blocks are stamped b18c, no #'s don't you have to specify that you want the type r and not the gsr??actually, that sounds like a pretty stupid ? obviously you could tell just by looking at the motor, which one it is, not like you're gonna fool anybody...just wondering.

Ok; the B18C1 has 10:1 cr and the B18C has 10:6. The difference is about 8-10hp. The reason that some people chose the B18C1 is because some people have to get smog checks. So it is a hole lot easier to take a motor that is smog legal and pass then it is to take one that is not and pass. Also the b18C has the option of LSD.

most people prefer a US B18C engine over the JDM version because of the legalities behind it. Some places don't smog/BAR JDM engines, especially here in CA.

JDM has a little more complicated wiring versus USDM, where you can buy the entire swap including the harness uncut.
What Kat said it also another reason, and someone else mentioned about the validity of the motor, mileage wise, which brought up another good point.
Its basically what you like, JDM or USDM. 10Hp isnt overly significant. I will say one thing for the JDM internals over USDM internals, they are coated with a heat- resistent/tempered... whatever they refer to it as, anyway, its supposed to protect the internals better specifically at higher RPM's. Supposedly........
If youve seen CTR or ITR pistons then you know what I'm referring to.
