Default Revved to ~8700rpm any damage?

I was messing around with a Z28 last night and I missed a shift going into 4th at about 80.....not bad....but I went into 2nd instead.

This morning I called my buddy who is well versed in motors. He said that if the motor still runs and there is no noticable loss in performance, any difference I see will be purely psycological. He is going to adjust my valves tomorrow just in case (he said) they went out of whack. My cam lobes might have hit my valves, the top of the piston might have impacted a little bit......oh man.

Of course I'm still very worried, so any second opinions will be greatly appreciated. What could have happened? What's the worse case? My motor still runs fine....but I hear a little more valve tap than before....I think. Oh man...

BTW, I have a Integra LS....rev limit is 7200.

wow.........the stock LS valve springs dont like anything over 7300rpm...........do a compression and leak down test as well........but if it's running smooth and normal you probably got lucky!

I did the same thing a few months ago and the needle jumped to the end of the tach for an instant...luckily, nothing was broken and all I had to do was get a valve adjustment.
